Always begin troubleshooting your Kyocera copier with some basics. Make sure correctly sized paper is in the paper trays. Make sure the copier has a fresh batch of staples as well. You can replace staples by opening the stapler cover, removing the stapler holder and inserting a new staple cartridge.

Make sure the copier is plugged into a working outlet. Try plugging the copier into a different outlet to verify whether the problem is with the copier or the outlet. Finally, make sure the copier is actually turned on and warmed up.

Make sure the glass is clean and free from dirt or fingerprints. If your copies are coming out fuzzy or unclear, it may indicate a dirty glass. Clean the glass regularly.

Finally, check your settings to verify you have selected the correct paper size and function for your copying job. Most Kyocera copiers have an LCD screen that will allow you to select different functions and settings. Play around with the settings until you get your desired output.

Most copiers manufactured today have a energy saving mode or "sleep mode" so you don't have to turn the device off at the end of the day. Leave the copier on and this will help dry out any moisture that may be present in the copier and on the paper inside of the copier. Also, this helps in the "warming up" process the copier has to go through before operating. Just make sure your copier is connected to a power line filter or surge protector in case of a power failure.

Maintaining the Paper Used In the Copier.

Keeping the copier paper away from moisture is one tip in maintaining your copier. Moisture in paper can cause the copier to jam. To prevent this from happening, seal any paper you open by placing the remaining paper in a plastic locking bag. Try to open and load the entire ream of paper only when the copier is almost empty. Also, keep all paper out of the light---light will cause the paper to yellow.

Our ESI Phone System tip:
Outside dial-tone preference
  • If you make mostly outside calls, you can set your station to give you outside dial tone whenever you lift your handset. This will eliminate the need to dial 9each time. When this is enabled, you’ll find that you will also want to assign station keys for those internal people that you often call. To call another station without an assigned station key, just press TRANSFER (to get internal dial tone) and then dial the extension number.

Are you experiencing lines on your copies when using the document feeder on your copier?  This could just be foreign objects resting in the "slit glass" under the document feeder.  This is the glass that the document passes over as it is scanned.  Here is a quick "how-to" on cleaning that part of your copier.

Picture

  1. Lift the Document Feeder to reveal the glass and locate the narrow glass strip on the left side (the Slit Glass)
  2. Clean the Slit Glass with a soft cloth. You can use a glass cleaner as well.
