Assessed from the perspective of product life cycle, carton packaging has higher environmental and ecological advantages than plastic bottles (PET bottles), and carton packaging is very environmentally friendly, no matter what other packaging systems. . Recently, a study published by the Institute of Energy and Environment (IFEU) in Heidelberg, Germany showed.
The report uses the milk beverage cartons and plastic bottles widely used in the German market as research and analysis objects, with capacities ranging from 200 ml to 1.5 liters. The products cover liquid foods such as fruit juices, milk, iced tea, and milk drinks. The study mainly evaluates and contrasts the eight major projects that affect the environment from the perspective of the product life cycle. The results showed that, whether it is juice or dairy products, at room temperature carton packaging 6 out of 8 indicators exceeded the plastic bottle, showing a clear ecological advantage. Experts from the Institute of Energy and Environment Research said that according to the survey, compared with plastic bottles, the advantages of carton packaging are mainly concentrated in two aspects: the consumption of mineral resources is even smaller, and the impact on the global greenhouse effect is also lower.

In fact, the environmental performance of carton packaging is also confirmed by consumers' buying preferences. A survey in Europe shows that raw materials come from forest carton packaging. The degree of preference among global consumers reaches 66%, and in China it reaches 84%. Raw materials come from the packaging of petroleum (such as plastic bottles). The degree of preference is only 18%, only 14% in China.

There is also a set of data from the perspective of the market to confirm the advantages of carton packaging in the game with plastic packaging. According to predictions released by the global food packaging giant Tetra Pak, global liquid milk consumption is expected to reach a record high of 242 billion liters in 2007. Among them, the carton pack has more liquid milk than any other packaging category, accounting for the total amount. 39%; In 2007, more than 65 billion liters of white milk and other liquid dairy products will be packed in carton packs, an increase of nearly 2 billion liters from 2006. The rapid growth of carton packaging not only shows that its health, safety, light weight and other advantages have been recognized by many consumers, but as people's awareness of environmental protection increases, the environmental characteristics of carton packaging will make it more and more popular with consumers. .
