Today, although specialty paper is no longer a new term, the types of specialty papers are still increasing. The images printed with special papers are exquisite and elegant. In high-end packaging and packaging, people have a special liking for it, and it has become an elegant style of “endorsement paper”.

Different specialty papers have different uses. Correctly applying printing processes on different types of specialty papers will add brilliance to the prints and add a lot of color. In addition, the use of different post-press processing methods on the surface of specialty papers will also produce different styles, such as the use of hot stamping and electro-aluminum foils on the surface of specialty papers, which are highly popular with consumers.

Due to space limitations, this time only introduce several types of commonly used specialty papers. Embossed paper uses embossed or creased paper on the paper to form a concave and convex pattern on the surface of the paper to make the paper more textured. It is embossed paper. The process of embossing is very simple. After the flat sheet of paper is dried, it is put into the embossing machine and cut into rolls under the pressure of two rollers. One of the rollers is embossed and the paper is embossed into the pattern after it has passed. Due to the deep texture of the embossed paper, only one side of the paper is usually imprinted. Embossed paper is the largest family in the specialty paper family. It is rich in colors, and there are popular brown, beige, dark blue, magenta, and white colors on the market. At present, in addition to embossing (texture) on offset paper, coated paper, cardboard, and white card paper, many soft packaging materials are often embossed before and after printing to improve the effect of packaging and decorating.

1. The type of embossing

Embossing can be divided into embossing and embossing.

Embossing is the type of embossing, which is based on the pattern of printing.

There is no direct relationship between the embossed pattern and the printed pattern. There are many types of embossed patterns, such as cloth patterns and diagonal patterns. Non-engraving embossing is widely used in the coating of book covers, patent leather, synthetic paper, plant parchment and other decorative materials.

2. Printing notes

(1) Monochrome or two-color printing

Compared with coated paper, the printing effect of embossed paper is quite different from that of proofs, and it is difficult to achieve the effect of plain paper. Because the embossed paper is printed as if it is superimposed on a layer of full-print solid ink layer, there is a problem of superposition of the ink color and the paper color, so that the printed color and the design of the calibration color are significantly different. In addition, the embossed paper has a certain ink absorption line, the ink into the groove is not easy to dry, and some of the embossed lines are not printed on the ink. Therefore, the embossed paper is preferably printed in a single color or two colors.

(2) The pursuit of three-dimensionality in the use of embossed paper for the production of book covers, gift wraps, and the main pursuit is to use its special colors and textures to achieve certain special effects, rather than the pursuit of fine and clear print images. Although the printed image of embossed paper is not fine enough, it looks more three-dimensional, which is unmatched by the coated paper. (3) The amount of printing ink and printing pressure must be large and uneven on the surface of embossed paper, and it is relatively thick. Therefore, only by increasing the amount of ink and increasing the printing pressure can the image be printed to make up for the effect of embossed paper itself on color and reduce the Color error between print and manuscript. (4) Screen printing is better than offset printing. The surface of embossed paper has uneven irregular lines. When printing, local color shades of images tend to be uneven. The ink layer of offset printing is relatively thin, and the phenomenon of ink unevenness caused by the characteristics of the texture itself is even more serious. In contrast, the screen printing ink layer is relatively thick, which can reduce the occurrence of this problem. In addition, compared with imported embossed paper, domestic embossed paper is prone to discoloration if it is printed by offset printing. Imported color embossed paper is mostly puree color embossed paper, that is, in the papermaking process, color pigments are added to pulp, while domestic color embossed papers are mostly dyed with white embossed paper. If there is a certain degree of acidity and alkalinity, if the offset printing method is used and the pH value of the fountain solution itself is not well controlled, the colorant or pigment of the embossed paper itself may react, and the embossed paper may discolor. The screen printing does not require a fountain solution and therefore does not cause discoloration of the embossed paper after printing. Patterned paper designers and printers continue to seek out ingenious styles to make the work stand out. At this time, pattern paper is their good helper. This type of paper has a soft hand and a beautiful appearance, and its noble qualities are comparable to ordinary paper. Pattern paper mainly has the following types.

1. Copy net pattern paper

In the papermaking process, wet paper is placed between two absorbent fleeces, and the texture of the velvet line is printed on the paper. The paper pattern of the net pattern paper is looming, soft and beautiful, and some of the imported papers on the entire net are made of pure cotton, so the texture is softer and more natural, and the tenacity is adequate. It is suitable for packaging embossing.

2. Antique effect pattern paper

Many customers and graphic designers love it and love the warmth and richness of this type of paper. In addition, book publishers also hope that the paper will be hard and durable and ensure consistent printing results. Products made with antique effect pattern papers exactly meet their requirements.

3. Inclusion effect pattern paper

In the 1980s, environmental protection trends became popular. In order to achieve the effect of natural recycling, a variety of dyes and sundries were added to the pulp sizing machine. Spotted paper came into being. When adding debris, the quantity and spot size should be controlled properly. If the number of dots is too large, the art pattern will be damaged, too little will give people the feeling of contamination.

Inclusion effect pattern paper is the first choice for certificates, book covers, and restaurant recipes. Due to the special effect of paper appearance, many companies use its annual reports and financial statements. In addition, it can make the layout more active and eye-catching. There are a variety of inclusion papers on the market today. Miscellaneous lines also include ore, snow, and petals.

4 no pattern paper

Many printers and designers are unanimously admiring the good-looking and beautifully textured paper. The non-textured pattern paper combines the natural texture of stencil paper and the printability of coated paper. The paper has undergone special treatment on both sides, which reduces the water absorption of the paper and leaves the imprint on the surface of the paper. good.

5. Just ancient paper

CONQUEROR, founded in 1888 AD, initially used the CONQUEROR London castle watermark until the early 90s of the 20th century. This distinctive watermark is world-famous. It has now become a symbol and code for high-quality commercial, writing, and printing paper. It is marketed in more than 80 countries and regions and is popular with hotels, banks, companies, and even government agencies throughout the country.

Gang Gu paper can be divided into the following five categories.

(1) Aristocrats

Made of 100% cotton, it has a delicate feel and is a pure and supple body. Top quality, expensive, never sold in China.

(2) Texture class

Texture class Gang Gu paper is sold very well in our country. It is the crown of Gang Gu paper. It has dozens of colors, quantitative quantities of 100g~2200g/m2, which are available for customers to choose. Its rugged texture, with a strong feel, is loved by designers.

(3) Sliding class

Divided into two series of ordinary sliding surface and super sliding surface. They have a smooth surface and give people a sense of cleanliness. At the same time easy to print, love for the printing factory.

(4) Concept Class

It is a brand new series. The shading is all white, but after different colors of coating treatment, appreciation of different angles, the paper will change the five kinds of metallic luster colors, the printing effect is outstanding, it is amazing.

(5) Digital

Specially used for digital proofing paper.

Printing should highlight the colors

No matter what kind of specialty paper, printing should highlight its texture. When designing patterns, care should be taken to avoid large-format halftone printing, and to add more lines and color patterns. All the screen adjustment pattern, we should try to use the amplitude modulation screening method, and use the FM screening method with caution.

In the choice of pattern colors, special attention should be paid to the balance of colors. Most specialty papers are colored. Printing on these special papers is like printing on the basis of already existing inks. Therefore, we must emphasize the contrast of color and the principle of master-slave. For the printing of specialty papers, the inherent color of special papers should be highlighted as far as possible, and the color of the foils should be handled more rigorously to avoid losing sight of the masters.

Before the manufacturers had a certain number of markets, the market prospects for specialty papers were very good, and the sales performance of many manufacturers was also good. Guangzhou Ganggu Paper Co., Ltd. is part of France’s Antalis Company and has its own forests, pulp mills, paper mills and sales networks. It has been listed in Europe; sales of Xie Mao Paper Group are unique, with 5 companies in China and Many sales agents.

However, the price of specialty papers is not cheap, especially the prices of varieties such as guqian paper, Yicai, and crystal colors are higher, and the market demand for them is still limited. When enterprises are involved in the sale of specialty papers, the investigation of the market must be in place. If they do not know what they are and do not understand the characteristics of the consumer market, it will be difficult to open the market.
