Anti-Counterfeit Identification Cover Design for Steel Drum Packaging Kong Qinglin In China, the standard 200L steel drum is widely used for packaging general fluid goods, and it is typically sealed with a screw cap. However, due to the lack of effective anti-counterfeiting measures, there have been instances where goods are replaced during production, transportation, or sales. This not only leads to the appearance of counterfeit products but also creates confusion over responsibility, resulting in business disputes. To address this issue, some manufacturers have started sealing the lids directly on the drums. While this helps prevent tampering, the process is inconvenient, difficult to open, and lacks clear identification methods. The upper part of the cover features a circular end cap, which is designed with breakable edges. These edges include expansion and contraction grooves that allow the clamping teeth to open outward at an angle. Each clamping tooth has an inward wedge-shaped straight hook at its lower edge, with a front-end height ranging from 1 to 3 mm and an effective length of 1 to 5 mm. An annular locking groove is positioned around the clamping teeth, and a locking band equipped with retaining teeth is placed along the groove. The end of the locking band is fixed onto the clamping teeth where the locking head is located. The locking head is fitted statically onto the clamping teeth and, once pulled outward, cannot be returned to its original position. Through the combined action of the locking band and the locking head, the wedge-shaped hooks on the clamping teeth engage with the groove on the drum lid, effectively preventing unauthorized access during transit. To open the lid, the security cover must be destructively removed first. When using the cover, users should first write essential information such as the product name, grade, standard, manufacturing date, manufacturer's name, and quality certification on the inner surface of the cover. Then, the cover is pressed tightly onto the drum lid. As the clamping teeth spread out along the periphery, the wedge-shaped hooks on their lower edges align with the groove at the base of the drum mouth. The locking band is then inserted into the locking groove and secured. Finally, the locking head is pulled forward until the wedge-shaped hook is fully engaged with the groove, ensuring the lid remains securely closed. This anti-counterfeit identification cover is simple in design, easy to use, and cost-effective to manufacture. Its destructive opening mechanism at the point of use or retail ensures that the contents of the drum cannot be easily replaced, making it easy to identify genuine products. It is suitable for sealing various liquid agricultural and industrial products, including oils, petroleum products, chemical raw materials, and light chemical substances.
