An ideal range hood inspection method should be conducted under controlled conditions: specified suspension height, indoor environment, heating settings, and duration. The difference between the amount of heated oil and the oil extracted represents the absolute leakage. Two recommended detection methods are: 1. Measuring airflow at a height of 1.4–1.5 meters, checking wind direction across several points (one-way cross-sectional flow), and sampling 5–10 locations. This helps create a detailed airflow and direction diagram, setting a qualified direction value and rated air volume. 2. Applying a detectable gas (such as ethylene or sulfur hexafluoride) to the cooking surface and then operating the range hood to measure the residual concentration of the gas in the specified indoor conditions, pumping time, and sampling location. For airflow and direction measurements, a precision digital anemometer with 0.1 m/s accuracy can be used. Gas leakage can be detected using a gas chromatograph, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
