Plastic track and field facilities undergo vertical deformation testing using a specialized vertical deformation tester, as shown in the image below.

Vertical Deformation Testing Equipment

The equipment used for this test must meet specific technical requirements to ensure accurate and reliable results. These include:

  • The falling weight must weigh 20kg, with an allowable error of ±0.5kg;
  • The spring should have an elongation range between 30 and 40N/cm;
  • The bottom diameter of the test platform must be 70mm;
  • The distance from the brace to the support center should be at least 200mm;
  • The distance between the bottom of the weight and the top of the spring must be adjustable with an accuracy of less than 1mm;
  • An electric lifting device is required, equipped with an amplifier that provides a precision of at least 0.01mm;
  • Power deformation sensors must be installed on both sides, also with amplifiers, ensuring a precision of 0.01mm;
  • The recording device should be capable of storing data from both sensors, performing calculations, or displaying readings (approximately 50 readings per test).

The testing process involves dropping a 20kg weight onto a spring, which then transfers the impact force to the lower test platform. This platform is equipped with sensors that measure the strength of the impact during the process. Additionally, deformation sensors mounted on either side of the test bench are used to assess the ground's deformation capacity.

The vertical deformation value typically ranges from 0.6 to 1.8mm under environmental conditions of 10 to 40 degrees Celsius. This measurement helps evaluate the performance and durability of the plastic track and field surfaces under standard usage conditions.
