It was learned from the Guangzhou Nonferrous Metals Research Institute that the hospital has successfully developed the most important part of environmental protection printing—laser-engraved ceramic anilox roller. Experts said that this complete set of technologies to fill the domestic gap not only can significantly reduce the loss of the printing roller, but also well supports the development of new water-based ink flexo printing technology.

This new process is based on the Institute's "Research and Development of New Thermal Spray Technology and Coating Materials" and the import of advanced laser engraving equipment and technology. The researchers used supersonic thermal spraying to form a dense, uniform ceramic coating on the surface of a traditional metal roll, and then laser-engraved the mesh. The laser-engraved ceramic textured roller not only extends the replacement ratio of the roller from March 1 to two or three years, but also increases the ink discharge hole on the roller surface from the current 800 lines per inch to 2000 lines. The problem of uniform adhesion of ink has strongly promoted the development of new environmentally-friendly printing processes, waterborne flexographic printing.
