First, the status quo

As a competitive project, rock climbing started in the 1970s. After nearly 30 years of development, there are more and more contestants, the overall level is getting higher and higher, and the form of competition is becoming increasingly rich. The annual World Cup sub-station representing the highest level of today has attracted numerous world rock climbing elites. Judging from the annual overall rankings, the overall level of European and American players is far ahead. In Asia, only individual players from Japan and South Korea have performed well and the overall level is still far away.

China has a second-rate level in Asia, and there is still a big gap compared with Japan and South Korea. Although our level has been greatly improved in recent years, others are also progressing. In fact, our relative level has not progressed much.

Second, the constraints

China has organized regular climbing competitions including the International Invitational Tournament, Asian Tournament, Asian Youth Tournament, National Tournament, and Extreme Sports Tournament since 1998, and has also sent teams to participate in many Asian Championships held overseas. In November 2001, we sent a team of 3 men and 5 women representing the highest level in our country to participate in the World Cup in Malaysia. The best rankings for men and women were 31 and 25, respectively. There have also been several technological exchanges between countries with high levels of rock climbing such as France, Britain and South Korea. Through these events and activities, on the one hand, exercise teams have been trained, knowledge has been increased, and the huge gap with them has clearly been seen.

Analyze the reasons, mainly in the following areas:

1, low training intensity

The improvement of competitive level depends on the strength and method of training first, and the intensity of training is the most fundamental. The most regular and the most intense training for competitive athletes in China is training 5 to 6 times a week for 2 hours each time. Internationally renowned players train 4 to 5 times a week for 4 to 6 hours each time. Not to mention training methods and effects, there is a big gap in this area.

2, the overall atmosphere is poor

For rock climbing, the overall atmosphere includes the level of coaches, the level of the linemen, the level of referees, the number and quality of artificial venues, the number and quality of natural field routes, and the fairness and fairness of competitions. From the vertical comparison, we have made great progress or increase in these areas in recent years, but the gap is quite large from horizontal ratios (such as France, Britain, Japan, and South Korea).

3, participate in the competition less

The decisive factor of competitive performance is the level, but the experience of competition and psychological quality also have a great influence on the outcome of the competition. In recent years, China has hosted a variety of competitions and sent teams to participate in some international competitions. The players’ experience in the game is constantly enriched and their psychological quality is continuously improving. However, our competitors have fewer competitions. It is an important, high-level event.

Third, measures

In order to solve the above problems, we must take some corresponding measures if we want to improve our country’s climbing level more quickly and narrow the gap with the strong players.

1, improve the quality of domestic competition

Organize domestic competitions with high quality and try to make the level of organization of domestic competitions reach international standards. Suggest:
a) The artificial rock walls of internationally renowned brands are used in the games that are allowed in the conditions, and a variety of commonly used artificial fulcrums are purchased (price is about 20 yuan/piece). And to guide and improve the quality of similar domestic products.
b) Hire international line-setters to participate in the alignment work in important competitions. The beneficial trials in the 2001 National Championships and Extreme Sports Contest show that this has not only improved the overall level of the game, but also increased the awareness of our lineup and athletes. This kind of multi-hop exchange hopes to continue in next year's competition.
c) Organize national training courses for referees and protectors. The first is to raise the level of professionalism and professionalism of the entire referee team, and the second is to expand the ranks of referees in China in order to accommodate a growing number of competitions. The first session of the national climbing referee training class was held in Beijing in December 2001, achieving the expected goal and achieving good results.

2. Develop national international lineups

The role of the mentors is to increase the level of athletes. It is recommended that 2 to 3 culture objects be identified as soon as possible, and then give appropriate opportunities to learn. Suggest:
a) Send it to a country with a high level of competition, such as France, Italy, Slovenia, etc., at a suitable time this year to conduct specialized studies.
b) As many as possible to send them to participate in various international competitions, on the one hand to enhance the ability to climb, on the other hand to learn the style of others.
c) As much as possible to allow them to climb various types of natural rock walls in order to obtain endless technical movements while also increasing their overall climbing level.
d) Another suggestion: To hold a training course for national conductors at an appropriate time this year, which includes the method of artificial rock wall alignment and natural site repair. This is also in order to meet the needs of the organization's various domestic competitions.

3, send teams to participate in international competitions

a) Send the best 5 men and 5 women to the Asian Championships and Asian Cup.
b) Send the key players (2~3) to participate in the World Cup.
c) Send young players with good development potential to participate in intercontinental and world-class youth championships.
d) Arrange 1 to 3 coaches for each match, on the one hand to guide the competition, and on the other to expand their horizons and improve their training.

4. Organize climbing competition

As the rock climbing competition has become one of the most striking climbing competitions, our country is still blank in this regard. It is recommended to send people to participate in or watch one such competition and organize a nationwide climbing competition when conditions are ripe, and gradually use climbing stone as a regular competition item.

5. Subsidy key athletes and coaches

Because most of the elite rock climbers in China are concentrated in colleges and universities, their family conditions are relatively common and some of them cannot guarantee basic life. In order to ensure their training intensity, improve their level of performance, and strive to achieve outstanding results in international competitions, the following designated athletes and coaches are given appropriate training subsidies (reference plan):

Assistance target:

a) Coaches: Ding Chengliang, Huang Jing et al b) Athletes: Cao Rongwu, Huang Jie, Huang Liping, Li Chunhua, Liu Guiying, etc.

Subsidy standard: 10 yuan/person day (year-round)
