Jaime Hayon’s Whimsical Caesarstone Installation
â€, a creative exploration by the renowned designer who established his own studio in 2000 and fully committed to personal projects from 2003. Today, he is one of the most celebrated creators globally.
His unique vision first emerged with the exhibition ‘Mediterranean Digital Baroque’ at London’s David Gill Gallery. Since then, he has showcased his work in major galleries and museums worldwide, including venues like Vivid Gallery, Mak Vienna, Groninger Museum, Aram Gallery, the Design Museum in London, Mudac Museum, Gallery Thomas in Munich, Walker Art Center, Centre Pompidou, and the Basel Art Fair. His works are now part of the permanent collections of several prestigious institutions.
At this year’s Interior Design Show (IDS) in Toronto, designer Jaime Hayon unveiled an installation of whimsical furniture pieces made from Caesarstone. The seven new pieces are the result of a year-long collaboration between the designer and the quartz manufacturer. This is just the first installment of what promises to be a series. The collection, titled Stone Age Folk, features face cabinets, bird tables, and wall masks crafted using traditional stone marquetry techniques.
Unlike typical kitchen or bathroom countertops, Hayon used Caesarstone in entirely new ways through his handcrafted creations. He displayed a playful menagerie of fantastical pieces that only he could imagine. His inspiration came from fauna, folklore, and the natural world, blending these elements into a surreal yet artistic expression.

Working with Caesarstone sparked my curiosity about what's possible through material and technology. The material inspires designers and creatives to think outside the box and bring innovation through creativity. This installation for Caesarstone is all about combining ideas—from folklore to fauna, color to material, and stone to furniture—resulting in unique pieces that can be functional or completely surreal. It's about mixing ingredients with our intuition to create a new world, inspired by the possibilities of the material.
