The New Design Museum in London, crafted by renowned architects John Pawson and OMA, is finally set to unveil its gleaming new entrance to the world! Working alongside London-based firm Allies and Morrison and structural engineers Arup, OMA undertook the monumental task of restoring the iconic 1960s Grade II-listed building nestled in west London.
The museum's interior spaces were entrusted to John Pawson, who envisioned a minimalist aesthetic with oak and marble-lined galleries creating a serene atmosphere. The museum is scheduled to officially open its doors next Thursday, November 24th. "I think it's incredible to have preserved this building, transforming it into a world-class hub for design," Pawson shared. Chris Masson from Pawson's team highlighted the impressive engineering feat involved in the renovation: "All the floor structures are entirely new. There was an incredible temporary support system holding up the roof while the original structure was dismantled and rebuilt."
