How Often Should You Exfoliate?

Hello, beautiful people!

Exfoliating is one of the simplest yet most powerful steps in your skincare routine. If you're wondering how often you should exfoliate, the answer is usually twice a week—but it really depends on your skin type and sensitivity.

Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells every day, and if they’re not removed, they can build up and make your complexion look dull and uneven. Gently exfoliating twice a week helps keep your skin looking fresh, smooth, and glowing.

But here’s the thing—your skin is unique. So, your exfoliation method should be too. If you have sensitive skin, stick to gentle options like a soft washcloth or a mild cleanser with mild exfoliating ingredients. Avoid harsh scrubs or overdoing it, as this can cause irritation.

On the flip side, if you have oily or resilient skin, you can go for stronger exfoliation methods. This includes using a facial brush, a chemical exfoliant like AHA or BHA, or even a professional treatment at a dermatologist's office.

One of my favorite ways to exfoliate at home is with a fruit enzyme mask. Our Dark Spot Eraser Brightening Mask uses a blend of natural enzymes in a jelly base to gently dissolve dead skin without scrubbing. It’s perfect for a relaxing Sunday night self-care ritual.

If you prefer physical exfoliation, tools like a motorized face brush, a gentle scrub, or even dermaplaning can work well. Just remember to be gentle and avoid overdoing it.

And always listen to your skin. If it feels tight, red, or irritated after exfoliating, you might be doing it too much. The goal is to reveal your best skin—not damage it.

So, find what works for you, stay consistent, and let your skin shine!
